Shigeaki Yamazaki (Postdoctoral Researcher) received the Battery Technology Committee Award.
- This award recognizes an especially outstanding research presentation at the 51st Battery Symposium in Japan, held in November 2010. The research achievement was“Charge-Discharge Behavior of Electrochemical Capacitors Using Halide Redox Reactions”. The novel concept of an electrochemical capacitor using redox reactions of electrolyte species—previously considered infeasible—was highly evaluated, and the work was selected as one of three award-winning presentations from more than 500 presentations.

Professor Masashi Ishikawa ranked No. 1 in the ranking of electrochemical-capacitor journal publications (Japan Patent Office survey). Kansai University also placed first.
- For the ranking across all journals, papers were extracted from the JSTplus database, including papers in major international journals described below. The international-journal ranking selected 44 journals recognized as major international publications so that researchers could be compared under the same conditions regardless of nationality. Because the ranking was based on the number of papers published in those journals, it may be regarded as a de facto “world ranking”. For details, see the Kansai University website and the Organization for Research and Development of Innovative Science and Technology website.
